At 5 sharp: a knock on our door: our taxi. We are ready, being disgustingly organized nowadays! Arrive at the airport 05h20. Everything is still closed is people are sleeping everywhere. When the counter opens, we mention our reservation but since we do not have tickets, nobody bothers checking the reservation. Tickets are written. No departure hour. Nor whether our luggage is sent through to Grand Cayman: we land back in La Cieba first.
We wait for departure. All announcements are in Spanish. When we hear 'La Cieba' we present our boarding pass. We get waved away. A big tour group Americans is getting on the plane. Ah, we think, premium class and we have to wait. Till we hear motors. I have a look and ... a plane leaves from the airline we are flying with at the time we are supposed to leave. Dr T wants me to DO something. But, it is gone and nobody speaks any English. A girl on her own asks whether we also go to La Cieba on the 6h40 flight. We guess so!

And indeed at 06h40, a flight is announced. We get up, present our ticket and get waved away again. Dr T does not give up. Till ... the luggage boy (!) remembers we go to Gran Cayman and tells the woman it is OK. We arrive at the plane: this is not the right airline!!! We decide to keep quiet and HOPE it is going to the right place. Dr T is not a happy puppy in yet another little plane.

But, all is good. We do land in La Cieba. I knew we were going the right direction. You will be happy to know that as an air traffic controller I do know my way up there. Although I do lose my way in a cardboard box, if you believe Tony, that is.  And, oh, miracle, we ask someone on the tarmac, as we step out of the plane: Gran Cayman and he takes us to our luggage! Then our luggage is checked. Manually. Yes, I mean a manny is opening up everything and goes through it. They did not event X-ray machines here yet! It IS pretty embarrassing. By coincidence, he does pull up matches out of my check in luggage. How do I light my candles now???

Immigration. Luckily we have more than an hour till our boarding. Spanish. Where and how did we enter the country. Why did we not have an official paper from the Guatemalan office? How the fuck am I suppose to know? We are getting on the plane in time. It is even a decent plane and we get a drink and a snack, would you believe?

Arriving, picking up our luggage and taking a taxi to the hotel is easy enough. We are even so early, our room is not ready yet. What to do but having a beer at the bar next to the swimming pool?

Our suite is great, checkout Dr T's new office.

OK, enough is enough. Those bites do not heal, they itch like crazy: a doctor, please! Sweetie pie calls reception, gets a name, number and address, calls and we take a taxi. It is a weird doctor. But: I can handle weird doctors. We take a taxi back, via a pharmacy in a big supermarket, which has everything. Thank God for civilization! Since I have to wait 20 minutes for my medicines, we send the taxi away and go shopping. Did I say civilization? Almost. No alcohol. Dr T asks someone. Yes, a liquor store 10 minutes walking away. AND my hubby knows that is in the direction of our hotel. And indeed, liquor store and walking to the hotel, we make that in less than an hour. The diving shops are closed already, so we have to wait till tomorrow morning.

I am happy to cook tonight. Well, warm up. We do not have a full kitchen. But a chef can work with the tools she has. Bisque d'homard with garlic bread. Lasagna. But where is hubby when the lasagna is on the table? Deeply asleep. He did not sleep at all last night. Ah, well, I leave his lasagna on the table. If he wakes up, he can heat it. But he does not wake up. And I go to bed early too. Hubby sleeps for 14 hours: very rare for him.
