We run to small breakkie at 09h30. I feel a bit sick. Barking like a dog!
Afterwards we go and explore downtown: it is only 2 blocks away! We still have booking for tonight in the same hotel but will look for something else for tomorrow. I will not be diving the first coming days, with a cold like that ...
Downtown looks as if it is very cozy at night. Indeed full of shops, bars, resto's and terraces.
BUT: also full of: garbage. Like in the other places in Mexico, people just toss things on the streets! I will have to find out, why. Is garbage not collected? Is it expensive to collect? How do they keep the rats away? Why does the city not smell like a dump?
AND: sales people are pushy, don't you hate it? 'Yes, please'; 'How can I help you?' (As if you asked something). 'Come in here'; 'Where are you from?' We do find a nice lady in a boot, where prices are clearly mentioned. We get prices for pyramids (no, Kris, we did not forget about them), addresses for diving and hotels in town. We go and explore the hotels and the rooms, I love that!
Hmmmm. We can get slightly better for the same price. I do not know how Dr T did this but he picks up a random brochure for a backpacker hostel!!!!!!! And we find it. And we book as from tomorrow, jongens, jongens, jongens toch: this will give stories.
The nice lady also gave us a hint to go to the 'hotel zone', which is a peninsula of white sandy beaches, turquoise sea AND hotels. We take that bus to Mister Frogs. Where we have an apero, a beer and a meal. Apero is in special glasses. Warning signs, when you do not look. I get shrimps in a beer glass: they say the only thing better then beer in a beer glass.
We sit ON the sea and can see the fishes and feed them. We spend a very enjoyable couple of hours there.
And look at Dr T, how did they know???
After dinner, we have a head bang. I went home on the bus like this... .
That f... cold is getting to me, I do have a fever and hubby plays on the laptop for hours more and I keep him awake for hours after that, with my coughing.
Tomorrow: check out AND check in to our first backpackers hostels, it will be interesting: I promise!!!
