So i arrived in Chicago at about 7pm, so i was very tired and just wanted to go to my hotel room. But when i got there it was a Hilton hotel booked through my travel agent i found that they hadn't booked me in for the night i arrived. So i was very pissed off as you can imagine since everything was paid for so should have been organised. They put my in another hotel for the night and then the next 2 nights i'd be back at the hilton i was supposed to be staying at the first night too. It was annoying but owel. But i did get an upgrade to an executive suite so that was good. The executive suites are only on certain floors and have their own elevators with a seat in it so it was very posh, but after all the trouble i went through i deserved it i must say.
The next morning i left my stuff at the hilton hotel and went sightseeing. My most importnat reason to visit Chicago wasn't just cos it was a nice city to visit but because John Hughes movies were filmed there so being a Home Alone fan i had to see the house in the flesh
I knew as soon as i saw the house on the corner in the distance that it was the house. It was so cool to be standing right in front of it. I have loved this film for years, i watch it countless times a year and know it word for word. So it was a real dream to see it right before me. It was a really nice house too so being in a nice area like that was refreshing to see compared to the seediness of some places near where i was in other places.
After that i went through Wilmette another town next to it, and saw the Home Alone church where Kevin hides from Harry and Marv in the christmas display. That was cool too. Both Winnetka and Wilmette were very beautiful places, where noone would lock their doors, but it was so lovely to walk through them. I could so live in places like that.
I then went on to Evanston and saw other John Hughes classic film locations, the Curly Sue school and Uncle Buck house. So that was so awesome to be seeing them too.
The next day i went around Chicago and took in the city. I went up the Sears Tower and saw the great views from over 100 storeys up. Then i went to Millenium Park and sat on the Great Lawn and saw some weird artsy stuff but again it was just nice to walk around and relax. I also walked along the water, which was really cooling since it was a hot day. It felt like i was in St.Kilda really walking along the Bay. But all in all it was a nice few days in Chicago. It still had its homeless people and seediness but it was well worth going to i must say.
Well that's all for now,
