Well i was really excited on saturday night because they put the sunday trips up for what counselor was doing what on sunday, and i was the only one lucky enough to go to the Eatern State Penitentiary. It was the first prison to try to reform criminals and not kill them or punish them like others were made to do. It was opened in 1829, and closed in the 1960s, so it is an extremely old building and the walls are kinda falling apart, cos one kid pushed his finger against the wall and it made a hole so you can understand how frail the place is. But it was a really beautiful old time prison...and i honeatly was waiting for Michael Schofield to pop out with Tea Bag, cos the prison is surrounded by a huge castle-type stone wall like the one in Prison Break. So the prison really shows the time it was made. The wall is about 30feet high and goes like 10 feet underground so people couldn't dig out, and out of 100 escape attempts only 1 person escaped but noone knows what happened to him so whether he was really successful is hard to say.
Anyway, we toured that, and walked around the cell blocks, had a look in a few cells, and went out to where they had a basic baseball field and at the end we even saw the cell that Al Capone was put in for 1 year, and it is really nice and has alot of stuff in it unlike the other cells which were very basic and are rotting away today. So that was good to see some history there.
There was a bit of movie history and movie present there which was really good, cos they filmed scenes from Seven the Brad Pitt movie from years ago there so i stood in the spot they did one scene so that was really cool. And in terms of movie present well they were filming Transformers 2 there about 2 weeks ago so that is awesome to know when that comes out i have been there. You know how i love anything movie-based. And going off topic i had to stay back on saturday to see kids off that were leaving and Spike Lee came to pick up his son so it was really cool to be able to see him in the flesh. All i wanted was to see one famous person here and i have so i'm happy with someone as famous as him. And we went to Target on sat arfternoon after all the kids were gone, the counselors who were back and they had a Pizza Hut in there can you believe it? It was so weird. But it had so much different stuff than we do, it has a freezer part with meals in it and all that so it was really different but the same if you get what i mean. But it was good to go there and see it.
Anyway back to the sunday trip...we left and had luch at a cafe across the road and i got icecream from down the street which was so yummy because it was Mocha Choc Chip so choc and coffee all in one is heaven to me. So overall it was a nice day, but again really hot so i kinda had abit of a headache but the kids were great, one of them had us all saying lines to a song he once heard and was so happy when i could say the whole thing without mucking up. So it was a fun day and when i got back we had 10 new girls so alot of them are really great already so it will be a good 2 weeks with them i think.
Well, that's about it for now, hopefully my next trip will be alot of fun on my next day off so i will have something good to write about to you all,

Love always,
Toni xoxo
