Hey guys,
So sorry it has taken me over a week to write anything and get back to emails but we literally just got internet and i am the first person on it since i'm in the office with the phone for the next 2 hours. So sweet huh that i get it first. Well, i arrived in Philly on monday the 9th and it was absolutely scorching!! It was a massive heatwave and lasted like 3 days so we were all tired from all the flying and had to deal with the heat. But its settled down now and its cool so it has been nice.
Anyway back to what i've been doing...we had orientation from mon to fri first at a place called Haverford college which is 10mins away and i meet all the other cousellors who will be at the 3 camps the program runs. Basically i'm with the 10 year olds, but there is a tennis and golf camp and a senior camp for 15 up. But everyone is nice, and there are alot of Aussies you can barely remember you aren't home. We pretty much outnumber all other nationalities overall, but there's only 4 aussies with me, all girls so its good to meet others from around the globe.
I am on the same floor as a girl from sydney called jemma and a girl from scotland called kirsty (its so funny to hear her talk-i always tease how she says things-but everyone teases everyone so its all in good fun. Theres a guy from Wales called Matt and all the girl campers make him repeat words like Hamburger cos he says it different. Its hilarious. But there's alot of unique people, typical americans who are loud and get ll the kids excited, people from the UK who all are kinda like us. but different. Most i get along with great. And there's a few people from France, Denmark, mexico, turkey it varies, but we all get along awesome so it is a great group to be part of.
We had to decorate our floors which was fun, i'll add a picture of it next week for you all to see, and we did the little mermaid so kirsty drew ariel and i drew flounder so hopefully you see the similarity since we did it ourselves from a colouring book picture. It is tough and we are all tired alot, but when i'm tired i just crack myself laughing so i've been laughing at nothing in particular quite regularly :) We have seen a part of Philadelphia already so that was great. Its called South Street. And they took us to the Museum Of Art Steps (aka the Rocky steps) at like midnight so it was great to see that too. I had my ipod with me luckily so i had eye of the tiger playing as i ran up the steps so it was fun but also great to see the view at night. I will go back when its daytime though cos it would be great to see it in the light.
So far i have 5 girls between Jemma, Kirsty and I which it generally starts at that in the beginning but we may get up to 12 girls all at once. We have the 10-11 year olds. They are very sweet girls, one is abit dominating but we'll manage thru that. They are good to talk to and we do activities at night with them so it will be sad to see them go in 2 weeks.
Well i will check the internet everyday since we now have it. But i'll add a few pictures so hopefully it works with this one. In good news, we get a day off this week when it really should have started next week because of the rush of getting things done at the start so i am going to NYC for the day with 2 other girls, abby from australia and jasmine from texas. It should be good. Though i'm just planing on seeing central park for the day so i can get that over with before i start to travel there. Its really exciting to know you are seeing a place like NYC in a few days, its weird. But that will be on thursday so i can't wait.
The bad side to being here is the food, sorry to disappoint you nanna rigby but its full of salt and grease and its hard for all of us to get used to. But we are eating healthy by buying bananas and i brought cereal to snack on if i'm hungary but you kinda eat toasted sandwiches and fruit, but there isn't alot of it so you eat alot of the same thing, right now i've had heaps of watermelon and celery but i've still tried bagels and cheeseburgers, fries and spaghetti so its similar to what we have but either to much salt with it or they add sugar or cinnamon to it, like french toast and we don't do that so i don't eat that. But i'm tryin gto eat healthy so unlike alot of the others i'm feeling better and looking better cos they are all putting on weight after a week or so so that gives you an idea of how it is here. So don't worry mum i'm eating as properly as i can but i'm going to ask for peanut butter sandwiches or somehting next week cos the fried food is just too much to handle anymore, i'm over it all. If our floor wins a pizza party...i won't be eating it :)
Well that's all for now i'll post something after NYC. Thanks for all the emails i'll try to reply as quick as i can!!

Love you all,

Toni xo
