Well i made it LA in one piece, finally after my flight was cancelled when i got there and then after 3 hours i finally got put on the Air New Zealand flight with many others, so our flight was further delayed by getting us and our luggage on there, which was good in the sense that i got to go to New Zealand for an hour while we were in transit, but was still a stress to have. But atleast with Air New Zealand we had a tv each in the seat in front, so i watched like 8 movies all up, like 27 dresses, cloverfield, grease, how to lose a guy in 10 days, and 2 i hadn't seen dan in real life and fools gold which were good. But United doesn't have this apparently so sorry mum, looks like you have a big tv on your flight over with whatever is on by them.
I didn't get any sleep on the plane which made me feel sick but once we got here it was good. Customs was nothing like i expected. We just lined up and said why we were here and then once i got my bag (which was on the turnstyle when i went over) the next guy asked what food i had and cos i only had chocolate and lollies he let me thru straight away. It took 30mins i think and here i was expecting hours. But some people here have apparently been detained for hours in back rooms so it isn't always easy, but that was just a shock to me that that's all there was. Maybe i've watched Border security too much and thought i'd have to show them everything :)
We have been staying at the Radisson hotel, which apparently Little Miss Sunshine used to film in, but i can't remember. Its a nice hotel. I roomed with an Aussie girl and New Zealand girl so they are nice to hang with. But there's many people i've met since i got here so its been good. I have been relaxing by the pool both days and had a swim which was weird cos i haven't been swiming in ages in a pool that big, but the good thing was that although it wasn't boiling it was about 26 degrees outside the water was so warm that it was nice to swim in. All anyone wanted to do was have a shower after the flight but we all went swimming first which was fun.
I have to say, considering i haven't seen anything of LA outside of a Westfield 5mins away, it really doesn't feel like i'm in California. Leaving the airport was just like Melbourne but once we drove on the streets and saw people driving on the other side of their cars and the traffic lights hanging the way they do here well then it was clear we weren't in Australia anymore. Its a little weird but its good to see the differences.
I'm off to Philadelphia tonight for camp. I leave at 11.40pm so no doubt i won't get any sleep on this plane either, its just so uncomfortable and noisy to deal with, plus there's a 3 hr time difference so we lose 3 hours of sleep anyway. But once i get to camp there will be no flying for 2 months so i will be glad to be off the plane tomorrow morning.
Well, that's all i have to say so far, so hopefully you all enjoy reading about my travels as i go. I will try and make them as interesting as possible! :) I will add pictures next week about all this just so you know!
Bye and love to everyone xo
