This is a video taken by yours truly sitting in a stream just outside our back garden.

I sat there for about 30 minutes watching a troop of about 10 howler monkeys (including 2 males) climb and howl above me. The video shows a pregnant mum and a younger female. You can tell who the males are from their bright white balls!

We didnt have a good week at Rainsong as one of the baby howler monkeys died from worms and dehydration. The other animals have now had shots for worms but seeing as a racoon died 5 weeks ago from worms they should have all had shots earlier and the death would have been prevented. The vet came round and pointed out all the things that shouldnt be happening such as using one brush for the whole sanctuary instead of for each cage. The owner didnt seem to take much on board and is very quick to blame the volunteers instead of accepting responsibilty so were going to cut our stay short and try to find another volunteer program.

True True, volunteered here for 6 weeks...had to stay for credits and it was realllly rough for her to keep volunteers around or in good compliance with her. Awesome experience with the monkeys but the place has gone to shambles recently. Lots going on that shouldnt be.
