Up late as b the time I got back to the room it was after 3, read a bit and fell asleep at four! Picked up my waistcoat (vanity vanity) then off to the big flea market over on Compton Road. I had heard about this and was only iffy about going, but am so glad I went. It took some time as the Tube was down and I was doubledecker bussing about but I made it. What a crush! Imagine something along the lines of the Italian Market, extending over a mile, wall to wall people of all ages (and the dreaded Japanese Tourists- I have prayed on this, and thus far not knocked any over, but it takes great willpower). The streets are lined with antique shops, second hand clothing, poster shops, tin shops, watch shops, you name it. Then the streets have smaller vendors set up selling everything from junk on up. There were also vegetable hawkers, jewelry, fish, binoculars, junk, cheese, more cheap jewelry, junk. And people. Impossible to walk. It was exciting and fun. I for once was not bothered by the mobs of people and rather enjoyed the whole thing for what it was.
From there, to the Tate Britain. Got there on aching feet, wandered into a few galleries, spied a couch, sat down, and promptly dozed off for 45 minutes. It's a sign. I am done. No more art. No more touring. My feet and knees hurt, my brain is full. I am ready to come home.
Am gonna sum up it all at some point. Not right now. What I've learned (or not); done (or not); decided (or not). But overall, am calmer.
