Luke and I turned up to our Memphis couch surf, the first words we spoke to each other were "beth uffarn yw hwn". The house was basically a hippy doss house. It's massive, and there are apparently 10 full time members to the 'community' as they call themselves, however there seemed to be lots more strolling in and out. Whilst there was one or two tidy characters living there, most where delusional 'artists' who loved to talk government conspiracy theories, or working on their terrible music. When I asked the head of the house if they had any rules to make living together easier, her response was "well..we're all pretty much anarchists...so we don't really live by 'rules' (obviously making the quotation marks with her hand) as such. She would frequently refer to herself and the house as being an extremely 'interesting' people
In order to get away from it, me and Luke headed downtown to the famous Beale Street, were we started the evening off at hooters. It was our first time at hooters and we both gave it a thumbs up.
We knew that there was a storm due to hit, but we had no idea how bad. There were tornado warnings on all the TV's which had by now lost all satellite signals, the lightening and rain was a repeat of North Carolnia, although by now we were used to it and managed to enjoy it with a few more beers in Hooters.
We decided to make a run for Beale st in the torrential rain, were we found a Johnny Cash tribute band. Live music is what Memphis was all about, that and BBQ which we were yet to try. The both of us kept on drinking to ease the thought of going back to the hippy house, when we did we thankfully fell straight asleep.
