We again headed North. We stopped at the Wrght Bros. Museum - where they first flew! We walked around and saw the markers showing the lengths of the 4 flights - one nearly 900 feet, which met the criteria set by the Smithsonian. Watched a short movie and listened to an interesting and enthusiastic Park Ranger describe the events leading up to the successful flight. Tom now has a leather aviator jacket which is keeping the cold out - now he just has to find his scarf, beanie and hat for future outings.
We found a comfortable, warm B&B in Hampton which is near the triangle of Williamsburg, Yorktown and Jamestown. This place is run by a pleasant couple who are interested in their visitors and are making us feel welcome.
Well we have another experience to add to our list! During the night the heater in our hotel room set off the smoke detector. (This is after we had to change rooms because the heater in the first room didn't work.) We turned off the heater and in the morning said we'd like to leave and please give us a refund - and we were given a complete refund for the three nights. We had expected to pay for the night we'd spent there and were pleasantly surprised at the amount refunded. Apart from the heater problems there were many things we didn't like about the accommodation but there was a marathon run on the Island that weekend so the good places were booked out.
