We found accommodation through an extremely informative and helpful lady at the Visitors Centre and we are now staying in an historic house in the historic district. We have the smallest of 5 rooms, named Serenity. We took a walk along the river front, and had an early dinner before looking at more shops - window shopping without buying any windows.
Time to move on. We headed north along the coast and drove through Myrtle Beach - which looked to us to be rows of apartment buildings and hotels along the coast; vaguely like our Gold Coast but without shops, restaurants or other entertainment. Now we are in Wilmington, North Carolina. This is a small town on Cape Fear River, not far from the coast and the Atlantic Ocean. It has yet more Civil War significance.
