The ferry ride was as smooth as going over. Kurt was waiting at the bottom of the gangway to meet us.  He had squeezed a few minutes into his day to be there.  He guided us to the train station talking as we went then helped us buy our tickets and saw us off on the train when it left a few minutes later.  Meeting Lili and Kurt makes the visit to Laeso much more memorable.  Now Ruth would like to find out more about what life was like on Laeso in the 1850s when her great grandfather was growing up there.

We caught the train to Vejle then a bus to Billund Legoland from where we walked to our hotel.  Instead of lugging our suitcases up the stairs we chose to use the outdoor lift; and got stuck in it.  We couldn't open the door or get the lift to move.  After about 10 minutes a young boy heard our yelling and banging and brought help.  It turns out you need to hold in the OP button until you reach the top.  Likewise to go down you hold in the NED button.  This may be obvious once you know but it certainly wasn’t at the time.  The hotel staff needed to find out too before they could help us.

We walked into Billund (about 2 km) along a pretty walk through a sculpture park.  We walked around, found an ATM (we are visiting these a lot in Denmark) and had an OK dinner in a local café.  It turns out that the Billund airport is the second largest in Denmark.
