The weather is cooler again. Ruth is back in her thicker pants and cardigan.
After Tom worked on the plans for the Stedman Website we went to Brampton Bryan, a nearby village, to the Scarecrow Olympics. There were several scarecrows around the villages, some very clever. We walked around the village, saw the small floral display in the church, didn't tour the local castle, but had a great lunch (delicious roast pork, apple sauce, stuffing and a selection of salads, followed by a choice of dessert - Tom chose rhubarb pie thinking it was apple pie) at the sports ground where there were several stalls but nothing else to tempt us.
We drove through Knighton, a village across the border in Wales, then back into Shropshire to Clun where we found some cheese, strawberries and French red for a "picnic" dinner - for a change. During the afternoon Ruth had changed the satellite navigation rules from "fast" to "short" and from "use Motorways" to "avoid Motorways". It makes a difference. Coming back to Bucknell it felt like we actually drove through a couple of farms and some of the roads were definitely overdue having their hedges trimmed. But the scenery was beautiful - the "typical" English countryside. Tom was able to stop and take photos because there was no traffic. Had something come along one vehicle would have had to back up as there was no room to pass.
