We made the mistake of driving into Ludlow this morning - there are road works which make getting in and out very confusing and time consuming for visitors like us.
After a brief wander around Ludlow we drove to Ironbridge, which is north of Bucknell near Telford to a cluster of museums. This area is where the Darby family, including four generations named Abraham, established and ran several businesses relating to iron. Abraham Darby I patented a method to produce cast iron using coke; a much cheaper process than the previous method of using charcoal. They also branched out into making Coalport china and decorated tiles. After some difficulty finding a parking spot (it's a popular place) we spent the rest of the day in the Museum of Iron, looking at all the different iron products they made - including AGA stoves and all sorts of ornate garden furniture and fireplace fittings as well as replicas of what they exhibited at the 1851 Exhibition held in London. We also visited Rosehill, one of their homes where we actually tried on period costume.
We had dinner at the Baron of Beef - there are not a lot of dining options in Bucknell so we will probably be having quite a few meals there during our stay.

Hi Tom & Ruth
It's scary seeing both of you dress like someone from a Dicken's novel - you certainly look the part!
