Another overcast day, but warmer, in the low 20s. We headed west today, covering new grounds. Once again along narrow lanes. Tom and Ruth have become used to the need to sometimes back up into a passing space to enable cars to pass. The narrowest lane we have been though was when we passed a walker who pressed against the hedge to let us pass.
Ruth dropped Tom at the Ravenglass railway station, and museum, so he could catch the Ravenglass and Eskdale 15 inch gauge train to Boot, a trip of 40 minutes. She then drove to the Boot railway station, the car trip requiring much less time than the train. She went on a couple of walks in that area while Tom explored the Ravenglass Railway museum then caught the train after a couple of hours at the station. Both enjoyed the scenery on their respective trips.
We then drove through Eskdale (a valley) and across the Hardknott Pass which has spectacular scenery and inclines up to 30%. We passed cyclists on this drive! We were now in the more populated area and drove through Ambleside and Windemere before returning to the Kirkstile Inn for another memorable meal. Tom had a chicken pudding which was delicious.
