This morning we caught the No. 94 bus to Piccadilly Circus then No. 15 to the Tower of London where we joined many other tourists to explore the Tower.  We started with a tour by one of the beefeaters, a funny man with lots of very old jokes.  Then we joined the queue to see the crown jewels, learning that the Royals sometimes rented jewels for their crowns and recycled jewels from old crowns into new ones.  One king couldn't afford the diamonds he rented for his crown; Parliament wouldn't buy them for him so they had to be returned, leaving the crown bare.

When the Tower closed we walked across Tower Bridge, which is beautifully decorated, and to the Globe Theatre to see "The Merry Wives of Windsor".  We had seats and Tom and Ruth didn't rent cushions - which may have been a mistake as the seats were not comfortable even though better than the standing room in front of the stage.  We all enjoyed the show but were feeling very tired as we slowly walked to St Paul's tube station.  We were not happy when we arrived to discover it was closed and we had to walk further before we caught a bus to Oxford Circus then waited for our No. 94 home.  A late night with all of us eager for bed and a good night's sleep.
