Well as it has been so long since we updated this, it is hard to know where to start. I guess I will put it in the logical day by day manner.

Wed. 31st March.
We drove to Las Vegas with a few shopping and food stops on the way, arriving at about 7:30pm so it was dark and nicely lit up. We went straight to the hotel we had booked, The Stratosphere, and the fun began! Jenny and I had made requests when we booked over 2 months ago and we assumed that they would take notice of these, but NO, rather than three rooms together, we were scattered all over. Not such a deal for our room but they certainly needed connecting rooms for them and their kids. They shuffled it around though but it meant Jeff and Jenny had a disabled room with a big bare hospital type bathroom! We just wanted to go to bed so we left it to sort out in the morning. To cut a long story short, we ended up getting a refund and moving to the Luxor Casino as it had a much better strip location etc.

Thursday 1st April.
Mostly entailed changing hotels but before leaving the Stratosphere we made use of our room keys to go to the top for free. Everyone except Jenny and I went on the Insanity ride. It is an extreme thrill ride on which you sit in chairs on a claw like contraption that hangs you out over the edge of the skyscraper and spins you at high speed while tilting you face down to the ground. No thank you!!! They all loved it though. We then headed to the Luxor and booked in. That night we did some grocery shopping so breakfast was sorted for the week.

Friday 2nd April.
Designated shopping day. The kids had a swim in the morning, and then we hit the outlets. Must say, they were a little disappointing. We think we have actually been to better ones already on this trip. I did score 2 pairs of shoes though, so not too bad for me. Friday night was just food court at the Luxor followed by a trip down the strip to see the Mirage Volcano and the Treasure Island Show. The early TI Show was cancelled due to the winds and the later one was so crowded we couldn't see much, although what we did see didn't appear to be that "child appropriate", so we went back to bed.

Saturday 3rd April.
We decided to drive out to Lake Mead and Hoover Dam. We left the hotel about 12pm. We parked at the dam and got to walk across it and look around a bit. It is certainly an amazing structure. The scenery around the dam is also quite amazing. The Courtneys had to leave by 4pm, so we had lunch and farewelled them, then went to the laundromat to finally get some washing done. That is one thing that is annoying about the casino hotels, no onsite laundry.

We hit the strip on Sat night and got to bed at midnight, only to find that our neighbours had left kids in their room that were yelling, screaming and playing ball. I was furious and rang security, who promptly came up and put an end to the noise so we could fall asleep.

Sunday 4th April.
We slept in til 9am and still managed to be down at M&M world for the free 3D movie at 10am! We then headed to MGM to see the lion habitat, where we found out they were actually doing lion cub holding so if you know Madi, you would know this was VERY attractive! So $50 later we were in line to hold a 37 day old lion cub! Only 2 people at a time so Madi and I went first. How gorgeous!! I think I was as excited as Madi! We then went to New York so Tom and Brodie could ride the huge roller coaster there. Madi was too small. At $14.00 a ride though I was glad about that. Vegas is all quite expensive!

We went out then so Tom could go to some shops (yes Tom, not me!) BUT much to his disgust Costco, Fry's electronics and even 'In N Out' were closed for Easter Sunday. Not happy!
We decided to go back to the strip and look around some more. We went to a Tix4tonight booth where you get cheaper tickets to shows etc. We got tickets to the wax museum and also to the Treasure Island Buffet. They asked how old Brodie was and said that he is a child so gave us a voucher for 2 adults to the buffet for 19.00 each instead of 26.00. We did the museum and had a ball! Brodie was very excited and said it was the best thing ever!

Then we headed to line up at the buffet. We hadn’t paid anything yet as we only had discount vouchers so you pay at the restaurant. We were told $19 per adult (with voucher) and 15 for kids. After lining up for half an hour we got to the teller. She asked how old Brodie was and she said he was an adult price. We tried to argue but she was a rude woman and said he would cost $26.00!!!!! No way! So back to square one! All the buffets were about $10.00 more expensive than usual because it was Easter Sunday, so no buffet for us! We ended up at Caesars Palace food court.

Tried to see Bellagio fountains but....TOO Windy.....I hate the wind!! So we headed to downtown Las Vegas for a look around before finally getting to bed at 12.30am.

Monday 5th April.
Packed up and headed to San Diego. We had a few stops on the way but got to Aunty May's house at 6:30 pm. Lynn, her daughter was there too which was nice. Had a nice visit before heading over to the care facility to see Aunty Chris before visiting hour finished. We spent about half an hour chatting to her before we headed back up towards LA. We didn’t have a place booked but we ended up at Santa Monica Comfort Inn. We are now about to head down to the Pier and have a look around before catching our plane to Chicago tonight.

We are putting our newest Costco purchase to great use! We bought a tiny little laptop so we can do a lot more stuff than we can on the iPhone! 299.00 + tax not bad!

Hi everybody.
it's good to hear from you again, yes Las vegas isn't the place to be during a public holiday, I was surprised that the factory outlets were more expensive than some that you visited we always found them to be better and cheaper. I was glad that you saw the Aunties thank you for your email Tom. I don't know what Auntie chris will be like in 5 weeks so I hope that she picks up and starts eating.
I hope your holiday isn't going too fast Tom, it's only 2 weeks on Sunday until we take off for Auckland, I had a good result from all my blood tests but the blood pressure is still up there, the doc said that it takes 3-5 weeks before it settles so I will have a check up before I leave on my holiday.
I know you will enjoy the rest of your holiday with Jenny and Jeff, say Hi to Dwight for me when you get to Michigan! God Bless, Love, Mum. xxxx

Hey there,
Have just caught up with all your blogs - very VERY busy couple of weeks so haven't had a chance to get near a computer. Have just sat here at work and LOL (everyone thinks I'm a complete nutter!!) for the past half hour.
Aimee's party went well - she howled the place down the whole time!! Missed having you all there.
Will be watching the telly with bated breath to see if we can spy you all at the basketball.
Thinking of you all.
The Tanimu's xoxo.
