Saturday was a nice drive in the country from Selma to Los Angeles. The freeways were still pretty busy, but having cars on the road with you helps you to remember what side of the road you should be driving on.

On one part of the trip down a guy on a motorbike flashed past me at what speed I have no idea. I was sitting on about 85mph and he made it look like I was standing still. Well about 2 seconds later, a cop flew past on his motorbike with his lights and sirens going. He was Californian Highway Patrol and I thought that it may have been one of the boys from the old TV show Chips, (the bikes and uniforms haven't changed a bit), but didn't get the chance to find out. Then of course we made sure we had our hair right and Nene applied some make-up in case we made it on COPS (bad boys, bad boys, whatcha gonna do??).

We caught up to the Courtneys in LA which was great and had plenty to catch up on. We went to Claim Jumpers for tea which reminds me a little of Lazy Moes or Sophias in Melbourne for the serving sizes. The food was great, but I was fortunate enough to taste it twice except the second time was about 3am in the morning and this time coming out, not going in. At least my birthday was officially over before that episode.

So Sunday we went to San Diego Sea World which was pretty good except it was an absolute rip-off. First of all, they SLUG you $12 for parking, then of course there is the admission fee of 3 weeks wages. After coming to terms with that, we checked out a couple of the shows. Firstly we went to see the stingrays where you can pay $6 for a tray of fish to feed them. We grabbed 3 trays as each tray had 3 fish in them which were about 10cm long, that wasn't going to feed anyone, not to mention that they didn't last long.

After that we went to do the same with the dolphins. Now again we bought 3 trays of fish @ $6 each and again they were tiny little fish. Now anyone who has seen any type of dolphin show before knows that when the trainer gives the dolphin some food it is usually about 60cm in length. As if these tiny little fish were going to do anything for the dolphins. I don't even think the dolphins even realised that we threw anything into their mouths. Still we were able to pat them and have our photos with them so that was pretty cool.

We also saw the Killer Whale show which was great. All of the kids sat in the Soak Zone. and they got a little wet when Shamu splashed them all. I got some pics of that and the only one  you can see in the pics is Madi as the rest are all hiding. Too funny. We were a little disappointed that the trainers didn't get in with the killer whales though as last time we were there, they swam with them and rode on their backs etc. All it takes is 1 bad killer whale and we all have to suffer.

One of the best things to happen was when the kids went on the shipwreck rapids ride. It was like the ride in Dreamworld where you all jump onto a huge tube with seats on it and head down the rapids. Well as we were walking to it, Jeff was telling us about the same sort of ride that they have in China that has water cannons that people can operate by putting coins in and aiming at the riders soaking them. We all thought that was fantastic when we stumbled across the same thing here. Next thing you know, we are pumping $1 notes into the coin change machine and we were in control. So many unsuspecting people were cruising past that we would wave to and ask if they were having fun before we absolutely blasted them with water. There were 4 cannons all going off and the people on the rides were getting absolutely soaked. It was hilarious. Then of course the kids came along on their ride and we couldn't let them get away scott free so yep, in with another Quarter and away it went. They came off the ride drenched. I think we pumped about $10 into the cannons but got $110 of entertainment out of it.

After a few more rides, we left and went to Panda Express for tea before dropping Jeff off at a hotel near Escondido for work and we headed back home. Arrived at about 11:45pm very tired and ready for bed after another fantastic day.

Pity about the Shamu show, some of the best parts are the trainers in the water with them, real pity they have stopped that.
The prices of fish have gone up since we were there. We fed the seals (they were mad) and had to do the dolphins too, nice to be able to pat them. Didn't like the stingrays, one jumped out at me!
Legoland have the water cannons too and one that has like a water bomb that comes out from under the water. You aim it at people on a ride, Josh copped it on there!
Keep having fun,
Shamu Shamu!!!
