The first flight was very uneventful, a couple of minutes late, but before we knew it, we were on the 'domestic to international’ transfer shuttle bus weaving in and out of the 737’s, 767’s, 747’s and even a Qantas A380.
Boarding the V-Australia 777 300ER was sweet. Janene and Madi sat behind Brodie and I with an old man sitting next to Janene. Not long after I sat in my seat I was joined by a young girl sitting next to me and her friend on the other side of the aisle. It turns out that she and her friend won a competition with Playboy and had their trip paid for my Hugh Hefner himself to party at the playboy mansion and have a photo shoot of some kind. This wasn’t too bad except Janene kept on bumping my seat and calling me Heff everytime I talked to them. There did end up being an issue though. The girls were telling everyone who came near them what they were up to and the young male flight attendants loved it and kept on bringing them free drinks. So, at 3:30am, the two girls were singing, laughing, talking and taking pictures of each other to the annoyance of the other passengers.
Eventually we made it into Los Angeles, cleared immigration, hit the shuttle bus to the car rental company where we picked up a nice red Dodge Charger. After a quick minute to set up the GPS, we hit the road for our 1 ½ hour trip to Ventura.
We checked into a nice little Comfort Inn before walking next door to a very highly recommended restaurant called "In & Out" burgers. Not bad at all.
Just watched the 2nd episode of “The Pacific” and now it’s time for bed before driving up to San Francisco tomorrow.
