We arrived in Arusha and were met by James from the New Life Band (a Tanzanian band with a Christian ministry to youth and students). We have met the members of the band a few times before when they had visited Kings Church in the UK. They are a great bunch of people and it was fantastic to be able to meet them all in their hometown of Arusha. We stayed with Ondo and Judi, their daughter Sarah, another girl Josie, and another Sarah who was staying with them from the UK. It did get a bit confusing with so many Sarah's! They were a great family and really made us feel at home.

The New Life Band had organised a concert on the Sunday with various other groups including a Pentecostal group from Zambia called Adonai. The band don't have concerts that often so it was great that we could be there to see them. It was an outdoor 'worship extravaganza' and a few thousand people attended.

Ondo took us to a Masaai museum as the area around Arusha is real Masaai land and where the tribe originate from. The way of the Maasai is interesting, you're considered a man after circumcision between the ages of 13-23 years yet you can't drink the Maasai homemade honey beer until you're about 35-40 years old!  Attached to the museum was a snake park, which we visited and one of the staff picked a small snake off a tree and handed it to Tom. We both held it but I was not so enthusiastic! It's not quite a python, but a snake nonetheless.

We had a really nice relaxing week spent around Arusha town and with the family at home.
