It was a long trip back to Istanbul from Cappadoccia, but we finally got in at 2am and surprisingly enough went straight to bed.

Next morning we sailed off on a boat cruise which took us around Istanbul from the water and gave a very pretty view of the city. The centre can be a bit overwhelming and grimy, but it's really quite a beatiful place.

After the boat tour that was it! we said farewell to Genghis, breathed a big sigh of relief, and set about exploring the Blue Mosque and the Grand Bazaar. The Blue Mosque was really nice, but I think we were all tired and had a serious case of historical site fatigue, so no-one really appreciated it all that much.

The Blue Mosque

The Grand Bazaar was just cool - A massive collection of shops selling carpets, fashion, food, bric-a-brac, antiques.... just about anything you could want and everyone was willing to do a bargain. Unfortunately my back was full, my wallet empty and I couldn't really buy anything, it it was cool just to wander around. I heard that the sellers could get quite pushy but didn't find it to be the case at all.

The Grand Bazaar

Most of the group was heading off that day, leaving Karma, Charlene and myself to hit downtown Istanbul that night to check out the scene. We ended up going to a Hostel bar, meeting a whole bunch of travellers and talking bollocks for the rest of the night. On the way home Charlene became acquainted with a garden gnome who liked her so much he came back to London with her and is now living with her boyfriend.

That night I had to catch a night bus which would take me the 12 hours back down to Kusadasi where I would catch the Ferry to Samos to begin my Greek Island tour. Not much going on in Kusadasi so I spent the washing and catching up on the internet and caught the ferry the next day to Samos.
