Where I stayed
Update: Wednesday Sept. 17
After spending the last two days in Rome, we left our hotel this morning and arrived in the Tuscany region of Italy in a popular little town called Florence, which is about a 4 hour drive north of Rome. Speaking of driving, Romans drive absolutely nuts over here!! We had sort of a close call yesterday with Teresa while we were out in the city sightseeing. First, drivers in Rome follow pretty much no traffic signals and there is no such thing as the pedestrian right-of-way. It is pretty much walk at your own risk. I grabbed here from her shirt from behind to keep her from not stepping out in front of a speeding bus.... Other than that, it was a wonderful day.
The weather has been absolutely beautiful over here. Temperatures usually reach around the 70 degree mark, with a brisk cool wind in the morning to greet you when you awake. Yesterday we toured the inside of the Vatican, including a stop at the magnificient Sistine Chapel. Afterwards, we toured the Roman Forum and the Collaseum, where we were able to actually go inside and see the ruins. In the afternoon, we went with the group to see some of the sights that we had seen individually our first day in Rome, including the Trevi Fountain and Pantheon. The evening was spent at the Piazza Navona, where we enjoyed a wonderful pasta dinner. Enjoy all of the pictures. These all are from our first two days in Rome. Tomorrow, we will be traveling to the Tuscany region. Looking forward to it!
