Up at dawn, this was my first non-rain travel day -- which should help the sightseeing. I made a detour to the library to send the Terra Nova episode and was on my way by 08:00 to tour the Bonavista Peninsula. Once out of the National Patk, I immediately turned onto the Discovery Trail and meandered around the entire peninsula, fairly close to the coastline, making stops in small towns along the way.

Once reaching Bonavista, I toured the cape lighthouse and the Ryan Premises, a National Historic site, which had impressive paintings and old photographs. Just outside of town, Dungeon Provincial Park had astonishing rock formations that truly shows the power of tide and time.

I left the small Bonavista Peninsula around 16:00 so I could spend the night on the Burin Peninsula 01-Blind hill sign

Tidbits:
- There are huge rocks parked in strange places (e.g., on top of hills, alone in a field and on the shore) courtesy of the last ice age.
-The extra passing lane on hills makes the outside lane yield when returning to a single lane -- a great Newfie idea that should be applied across Canada.
- All greaveyards and gardens are fenced to stop moose munching.
- My sister Eileen would love Newfoundland for the numerous "tea houses" across the province; on the other hand, pubs tend to be sparse and outside most town limits.
- I foresee a new laptop in my future; the battery now only lasts for 10-15 minutes (when new it was 4-6 hours) and it is not worth replacing a battery on a seven year old PC.
