Time seems to be moving very slowly at this moment in time as I continue to wait for my night bus but I do have a relatively untouched copy of Catch 22 to get through. I say untouched, I mean unread, the front cover is gaffer taped to the spine and the first couple of pages are about to be lost, I'm sure of it but anyway:
After the relaxation of Uruguay I was back in the hustle and bustle of the Argentine capital of Buenos Aires and after saying bye to the lovely Iowan brother and sister it was great to be reunited with Alex and Kerri the London couple I had got on well with before and Sara who had taken a 4 day bus journey from Lima to get there! So I spent those days getting myself sorted, planning my next destination and searching high and low for a camera. A camera is possibly one of the only things that is not cheaper in Argentina, to summarise my luck but a decent valued one was eventually found.
The first night was an amusing one there was a Danish guy at the hostel who only compounded my view that all Scandinavians are crazy, he was leaving for home the next day and had 600 pesos (approximately 100 pounds) and had decided he could not be bothered to exchange it and so he was going to spend it all in one night on endless rounds of drinks and a lady of the night for himself. The number of litres of lager on our table in the hostel was an amusing sight and made sleep that evening in the hospital wholly possible.
The rest of my second stay in BA consisted of several more reunions several bottles of beer and a fun house-warming party in the appartment Alex and Kerri had acquired 2 doors away. Having said bye to the eccentric team that ran the hostel who consisted of Rolando a smooth-looking, chain-smoking, tango teacher, Juan the Maradonna-esque jolly night-watchman and Daniel the pony-tailed owner I was off to Rosario, alone for the first time since I checked in to Buenos Aires the first time round.
