Had my first truly touristy day today and what an experience it was!
We decided to visit the largest dam in the world, a site that caused unprecedented amounts of destruction and as a consquence the Itaipi Dam´s sole focus of its tour is to serve as a propaganda campaign showing that it wasnt really that bad and that they were doing lots to make up for it. Not quite the James Bond GOldeneye Dam but hey!

Today also gave me my true insight into the diehard tourists and their accompanying stereotypes and I witnessed some extremely rude behaviour today! Mainly from pensioners, they are the worst! This French tour group kept asking this poor Braziliian woman to move from the spot by the falls where they wanted to have their photo taken from. Apparently `"excuse me" is the international phrase for "move out the f**king way its my divine right to sstand there. This was evident when another Japanes pensioner group uised the same phrase on me! The group were equipped with a whole plethora of devices designed to protect their gleaming white, photo-allergenic skin from the sunlight. This included white butler gloves, wide-brimmed sun hats and even an umbrella! (it was 35C and there was absolutely no rain!) Being English I was adamant they waited their turn as the Brazilian eventually did-oonly for the French womans pose to be a glare resembling noone but Margaret THatcher and maybe that was why the poor girl moved! One Japanese tourist just forced their way past me despite my awkward stance and another French one barged in front of me into the viewfinder of the photographer I was standing back from!
A highlight had to be a young child nearly getting ravaged by a racoon for refusing to give up his crisps!
The most worrying thing about this whole tourist business is that I will probably end up like one of them later on in life and that thought terrofies me
The weather and the view was nice though!
