What a change from yesterday!  It was 41 degrees and raining this morning.  Very cold and wet!  Thank goodness for our heated suits (thank you Dave Martin!)!

I asked myself a couple times today......."whose idea was this?"

We traveled over 400 miles today and are staying at a nice motel at the base of the St. Elias mtn range.  It is beautiful country here!  The waitress here at the restaurant in Haines said it gets dark here at 3AM for about an hour!  Can you imagine............

Tom's spare gas tank that we had in case of emergency need, fell off the trailer today and we drug it for about a half mile.  Tom didn't like the design of the gas tank anyway so I think he won't miss it

Didn't see any wildlife today - it was too cold for them too!!!

We had to ride/drive in mud for 6 miles today.  Our vehicles were a mess.  The guys washed them when we arrived in Haines tonight.

Hope you enjoy our blog.  Soon to be in Alaska - hopefully tomorrow.  Tetlin, Alaska tomorrow, then we hope to arrive in Kenai the following day.  Bruce we will call and keep you posted.

Hope all is well back home.

I can't believe the time you're making, and I'm sure you'll be ready for some R&R when you arrive. Today we got some much needed rain and they're calling for a sunny weekend. Be very careful on the Seward Highway coming down from Anchorage. High accident rate. But it's really a beautiful drive and a real nice road. See you soon.
