What a glorious day!  Even when we went through Chicago with road construction all around us and 2 1/2 hours in traffic it was a great day!  We had beautiful weather - even the 90 degree temperature while sitting in traffic was bearable!  We are on vacation!

The most exciting part of the day was pushing Porter's cycle everytime we stopped.  We had to push it to get it started!  It was REALLY EXCITING when we had to push it when on route 80 in CHICAGO traffic!  It caused a "little" road rage, but nothing serious.

We arrived in Rockford about 7:30 PM and felt we made a lot of ground today considering we haven't ridden that long of a distance in a very long time.  We decided to eat at Big Al's Bar next door to our hotel.  It was good and we would recomment Big Al's Burger!

Tomorrow we will probably spend some time trying to determine why Porter's bike is not starting.  Then on to see his brother in Minnesota.

Sleep tight - and thanks for joining us on our journey!

Kris on

Sounds like you had a great first day. Almost makes me wish I were with you - or at least in an RV behind you.

Sandy - Don't forget to change your location on your posts! Your push pin is still in Wooster :)

Thanks Lindsay, I was just thinking about texting her the same thing. I'm glad you noticed!

Making it through the Windy Cindy is a plus and you should have some pretty smoooooth riding until ya hit the dirt roads far ahead of you. "Keep on biking."
