Cape Trib Day One.
We got picked up from our hostel at 8am and starrted on the journey up to Cape Tribulation, a Wet Tropics Wourld Heritage Area. On they Way up we stopped off at the Daintree River. A lot of sugar and tea is grown in the area, after a cuppa we jumped on a boat for a croc-spotting river tour. Pretty good, saw a couple of crocodiles, an osprey and other wildlife. Very hot and humid so the frequent tropical downpours are a relief. Lizzie survived without feeling sea sick which was a bonus.
After the cruise we contiued the drive to Cape Trib and stopped off for a board-walk through the rainforest
When we arrived at our resort we were only down to stay one night, not two as we had booked. Unfortuately there wasn't a standard double availabe for us the second night...so we got upgraded to a delux double. Absolute luxury compared to what we've been used to! Had a nap in the most comfortable bed in a long time before a good feed and a few drinks.

Cape Trib Day Two.
A very lazy day. Went for a walk along the beach, careful not to get too close to the sea then lazed around the pool before an afternoon nap. Up for some food, a few drinks then headed home.

Cape Trib Day Three
A sad day having to check out of the delux double. Torrential rain in the morning but it cleared in time for us to lug our bags down to the bar and wait for the bus for afternoon activities on the way back to Cairns. First stop on the way back was the Alexandra Look-out for a quick photobefore heading to the ferry over the River Daintree. After crossing with no croc attacks we headed for the Mossman Gorge for a refreshing dip in the fast-flowing river. The gorge and the land surrounding it has recently been handed back to an Aboriginal tribe as it is of great historical importance. (The bad spirit, a giant python that 'made' the gorge by slithering down the mountainside was trapped by the good spirit which turned itslelf to granite at the entance of a cave, visible from the road). There were some pretty cool waterfalls. After drying off we started back to Cairns stopping briefly at the Rex Look-out on the way. Back at the hostel we had a chilled evening, up early in the morning to say good-bye to the Great Barrier Reef...

Cape Trib - Day One
. Saw loads of spiders and lizzards only found in the Daintree. An interesting drive, the wet season has already taken its toll on the roads with a few landslides. Also an amusing speed hump warning sign the local council has given up on replacing after someone with a passion for saving Cassowarys keeps altering (see pics). When we arrived at our resort we were only down to stay one night, not two as we had booked.
