02/09/08 - L

We set off on a long drive from Nelson all the way through to the coast and a town called Westport. On route to Westport we passed Bullers Gorge which was spectacular. Just south of the town on the coast we went to Cape Foulwind. Cape foulwind has a fur seal colony, we saw lots of seal pups on the rocks sheltered from the sea. We also went along the coast looking for baby blue penguins but a local told us that they are normally around an hour either side of dusk and dawn. We found a good spot to sleep right on the coast just outside of Punakaiki.
