Woke up to a glorious day so booked onto the ´Christ Redeemer´ tour for the afternoon and went to the beach all morning. A taxi collected our group including four English lad´s and Serg, a Spannish guy and drove around Rio and up to a viewing point on Dona Marta, from which you could see the statue and the city. After this we drove up to a car park on Corcovado and took a mini-bus up to the top where the statue is; took lots of photo´s and had lunch. Very impressive. The taxi then drove through Santa Teresa, an old part of the town with cobbled streets, and on to see the Stairs of ´Lapa´,  a set of long steps covered in crazy tiles by an ´artist´.

Another sunny day so spent it on the beach and battling the surf. We tried to get tickets to a Cup final on Sunday between two local teams, Flamengo vs. Botafogo but it was a sell-out. We managed to get tickets for  Flamengo vs. America de Mexico. Awesome experience in such a big stadium - fireworks, flags etc. and beer brought to your seat. Noone sits down and everyone goes mental all the way through. A tad different to Portman Road.
