... when we landed.

Our last days in Jeri were great: More dancing, more great food and lots of relaxing sunbathing, swimming, horse-riding and windsurfing. And, of course, more sunsets. For some more days we enjoyed the laid-back atmosphere. The "streets!" were soft deep sand (no tarmac, nowhere!), which is why there is no traffic whatsoever, apart from the occasional beach buggy. Instead the streets were roamed by dogs, cats, cows and donkeys. While sitting in your restaurant, you could see half a farm pass by, rummage through the dustbins or just sit in the middle of the praca. Or the quiet and peaceful sunsets on the cape, from where we watched the last surfers gliding across the golden waters. Or the simplicity of washing clothes in our pousada at midday, and then spending the rest of the hot part of the day in a hammock.

Our trip back to Rio went all well. The airport of Fortaleza was a real bliss (the good shopping opportunities cost Rebecca another bikini!) and in Rio, well, we already knew the place. This time, our room did have a window, and you couldnīt even close it. Well, this didnīt seem to bother anybody, so we left it at that. "Our" Chopperia was just as good as at the beginning. From there, we ventured to the viaduct again for some drinks. We didnīt party to much, as we were both tired from the long day. Sunday, we tried to do some shopping, which was useless as there was few shops open on Sunday. But we did see the Rio Marathon, and we did find some nice shoes for Thomas. Of course, we bought Cachaca and other food goodies to bring home.

After a last chicken-farofa-bean lunch, we took a cab to the airport. Obviously, we had spent too much on booze - we partly had to pay the poor cab driver in dollars as we had run out of reals. Rebecca flirted with the airport ground personal, maybe it was her funny Portuguese, maybe it was our tired looks - he gave us two middle row seats and managed to keep the two other seats of the row empty. so we had four seats for the two of us. What a bliss.
On board was a group of young Brazilian pilgrims going to the World Youth Day in Cologne. When the plane left the parking position, they held each other by the hand and prayed. It can do no harm, can it?

Also, we were now prepared for the crappy board service and just took the piss out of the unfriendly, Spanish only speaking service crew. The food was a little better this time and now we were smart enough to take four (!!) bottles of wine whenever we went to the kitchen for drinks.

In Germany, it was cold, VERY cold in flip-flops. But our bed was warm and VERY comfortable! Travelling is great, but there are few places in the world, where one sleeps as good as in ones own bed.
