Out of the jungle, and into the one of concrete. KL as the locals call it is a big city. We had a few days here to explore. Our first night we went out for dinner, and found ourselves in the middle of a very active night market. People screaming at us from both sides, selling whatever it may be. Rolexs, Guchi, or whatever designer is your flavor, they have a great knockoff, so what if it falls apart after only a few days or weeks. Eventually we sifted our way through and found a restarant to feed our aching stomachs.
The next day we went out to where Amanda's old house was when she was a little girl, with Soh as our guide. It was quite an excursion as we walked the streets in a very rich neighborhood for a few hours. Eventually we found it, and there it was, almost the same as it used to be, except the addition, and a new swimming pool. Afterwards, I think we had tired Soh out, we went and had lunch and sent Soh back to her sister's place for a rest.
Soh decided to leave us the next day, so we had the day to do, well whatever. Most of our time previous had been wrapped up with planning our trip out to Borneo, and internet time. We decided to go for a nice long walk, and were joined by someone sitting around our hostel. We headed for the Petronas Towers, which we ended up not being able to go up, but they were impressive just to be at the foot of. We did however have the chance to go up the KL Tower, which is the communications tower, with a viewing platform. You could see the whole city, in the grayish haze that permeates everywhere. A great birds eye view of the towers though. On the way back we grabbed some fantastic banana-leaf curry with our new friend who had been living in India for a few years, and had found a great place.
Drinks on our rooftop bar at the hostel rounded out most of our days, KL doesn't have too much to offer, though the cuisine is great, if pretty similar to other places in Malaysia. We prepared ourselves for leaving the mainland, we had an early flight.
