Steve, Amy & I set off to see Sweden - and the easiest way to do that was to catch the train 20mins from Copenhagen across the 'prestigious bridge' to Malmo.
We basically had no idea what we wanted to see when we arrived, so we headed for the Twisted Torso building, which had received rave reviews from other Holger residents who had already visited Malmo. It really is an impressive building - it is hard to imagine the amount of planning that would have gone into a building that doesn't go straight up but instead twists itself around.
We then set off to find something a little more historic. On the way we stopped at a massive supermarket to pick up some RedBull, which for some reason is illegal in Denmark
We then went and explored the city centre of Malmo with its pedestrian walking streets. We sat in a park in the centre of town with a map and tried to work out the best things to do in Malmo. First stop - chocolate factory.
The chocolate factory wasn't so much a factory as a shop. Nevertheless, they made fantastic chocolate in any way you could imagine. I had a chocolate pudding with an ice chocolate - wickedly delicious. We bought some chocolate coated almonds for the road and headed off.
We then had a look at the castle in Malmo (which looks like a big warehouse), checked out the casino, and had a bit of a look at some churches.
Tired and hungry, we sat down for a meal at what we thought looked like a fairly Swedish restaurant. The food was fantastic and much cheaper than anything you could find in Denmark. While we were eating our meals and drinking locally brewed beer, it got dark and the city seemed to transform.
Buildings that looked boring when we walked past them earlier suddenly seemed to come alive when the darkness and city lights hit them. Suddenly the city became a whole lot more interesting and beautiful. Noticing this, we decided to explore the city again by night - this time it was much more interesting and enjoyable despite it being the second time around.
Completely exhausted from walking around all day, we headed back home to Holger at about 11pm and stumbled into a party... A long day became a long night.
