There was an excuse for the traffic jam, though: The Jelaja 2008, a Malaysian Tour de France held its last stage in the capital, resulting in many closed roads. As soon as the race started, it also started to rain heavily and after only 2 minutes the race was stopped for a while (including some ambulance action in one of the corners). I didn't stay to watch the whole race (being hungry and rained on where good enough reasons for me), but dropped in again later to see the press conference - probably the closest I will ever get to a press conference after a sporting event.
What else... Well the usual suspects: Chinatown was buzzing and cheap, colonial architecture could be found on the main square, some big mosques sent prayers though huge speakers, and an expensive radio tower offered expensive views (which I didn't bother paying for). The highlight was probably seeing the Petronas Towers by night - they are impressive when you stand right underneith them - unfortunately I couldn't get onto the small bridge in between.
Looking at my diary I realised that I actually don't have as much time as I thought to get to Phu in Hanoi, so I decided that one night in KL was enough and would spend 2 days in the Cameron Highlands instead. Walking in a jungle rather than in smog should be a nice change!
