Hi all,

The Island of the Sun is the legendary Inca creation site and is the birthplace of the Sun in Inca mythology. Many backpackers come here to hike around the island, but as we got a later boat we decided just to visit the south part of the island. Isla del Sol has become quite touristy over the last few years with hostels and boutique hotels (Bolivian style….so not very glam!) popping up all over the island. Despite this, the island is still quaint with the opportunity to watch a beautiful sunset on the cliffside. At night it was very beautiful and made for some amazing star-gazing.

It felt like we on a Greek island with the donkeys, Mediterranean style sea and small stone housing. The next morning we made our way back to Copacabana for the next bus to La Paz…..just! We ordered lunch with an hour to waste, but in true Bolivian style our pizzas arrived with 2 minutes to go before our bus departed. With the pizzas wrapped in black bin liners we ran for the bus as we definitely did not want to stay here in this barren town for another night!

All our love,

Hollie and Thomas x x
