We wanted to do some bone carving and horse riding along the beach, so quickly dumped our stuff and went to pick out a design for our necklace. Then it was time to mount up. I'd like to say I could remember everything from when I was 5 but I can't. I thought I'd also been given the fat lazy horse but that was to turn out to be a big mistake!
The ride out to the beach was nice and easy as Julesy and I got to grips with being on a horse. Julesy horse (Mona Lisa) was very well behaved and didn't go galloping off down the beach. Mine decided that walking wasn't fun and kept trotting off at any given opportunity. (My legs are still sore 2 days later!)
The scenery was amazing, trotting through the surf and then we headed inland up some really steep muddy tracks. Once at the top the view was fantastic, we could see for miles. The only worrying thing was looking at the slippery slope we had to get our horses down!
Thankfully we made it back in one piece! Then it was off to do some bone carving. I can't say I did too much of my one, I'd shape a bit of it then the lady would come over and do loads of it. I won't complain. They both turned out really nice. Not sure what mine means but Julesy's is a good luck symbol for travellers especially over water. Quite appropriate!
Had our 2nd Hangi tonight but it was nothing compared to the one in Rotorura more of a stew-ew! Ended the night playing cards with most of our group which was good fun!
