Today we had a day trip out to the top of New Zealand, where the Tasman sea meets the Pacific Ocean. Another early start, can't say we're getting used to them! All aboard the bus and our first stop was a protected forest of Kauri trees, which are amoungst the oldest, tallest and largest trees in the world. The ones we saw were over 2000 years old.

Onwards north and with a quick stop at a local bakery for scones and chocolate cake we made it to the top of New Zealand and played around up there taking some fun photos. Lunch was overlooking the Pacific ocean at a nearby bay before one of the highlights of the day, sand bogie boarding down a massive dune!! Amazing, even though we didn't manage to beat the bus driver's efforts down the dune to win a free fish and chips:(

Next we were off down 90 mile beach driving our huge coach through streams and across the sea. Was just like being back on Fraser island! A few more stops later and we were on our way back to the Pipi Lodge for a pub quiz. We teamed up with some American's and did okay..we didn't come last:) but the crowning moment had to be when Belgium was declared to be landlocked?!?! It was a special question for just individuals, where the girl gave us clues as to where she was...she started off with "I have a population over 10million", then "I'm landlocked" and finally "I have a border with Germany" and "I have two languages, one being Dutch"....and of course the answer is...Belgium:) Unbelievable!
