Our first trip on the Kiwi experience and it had to be an early start! Typical.But we are off to the Bay of Islands and the sun was shining! The journey up there was filled with fantastic scenery, but I guess we'll be saying that quite a lot for the next 40 days.

We got to the Pipi patch lodge at 1ish and before long we were off on a high speed boat, the Excitor, to the hole in the rock and to check out some of the 145 islands in the bay. The water was almost to calm, as when its rough the boat bounces around and soaks everyone, but seeing the islands upclose and to sail through the rock was worth it.

That evening we had a bbq at the hostel, which was just what we needed; steak, sausages, potatoes and a bit of greens. Before we knew it though the bar was empty...i guess everyone was knackered from the bus journey up.
