Crawled out of bed at the crack of sparrows to get to the meeting point for the Blue mountains tour and were pleased to see that it was sunny (ish)!! The moment we got on the bus our tour guide made sure that we understood that this was a BUDGET tour and that we knew exactly what we had and hadn't paid for.... They'd clearly had problems in the past.
Our first stop was the Olympic Park where the 2000 Games were held. We'd been here before to watch the Swans AFL game but it looked completely different in the day without all the crowds and barriers. Next up was a local wildlife zoo, which just felt like a filler especially as we'd seen all the animals there at least three times already coming down the coast; although there was one...the knob-tailed lizard... a photo must!!
Finally we made it to the Blue Mountains and got to see the three sisters. The highlight though of the Blue Mountains has to be the steepest railway in the world at 52° and we were sitting right at the front!! It doesn't descend slowly either!! Before that we'd already crossed a canyon in a cable car with a glass bottom. One minute I was admiring the view all around, the next I looked down and the floor had disappeared!!
With all the excitment of the Blue Mountains we dozed on the bus back into town before freezing ourselves silly on the ferry on the way back to Circular Quay. It was worth it though for seeing all the lights of Sydney.
