We picked this day trip as it was the cheapest tour around, only $29! And when the driver arrived to pick us up, he told us it was just going to be the two of us! A private tour for $58 in total. Genius! Our guide was also the owner of the company and was full of stories although they all seemed to encompass someone getting naked or doing something naked. At times we worried we would disappoint him by not getting naked ourselves.

We toured Cairns, saw its ports and communities and then headed up a nearby hill for a panoramic view of the whole city. After a couple of snaps it was off to crystal cascades to check out some secluded water falls which hardly anyone goes to. When we got there it was just the 3 of us and perhaps another 2 couples walking up to the top. Pretty special! It was getting pretty hot with the sun beating down on us and so on the way back down we stopped for a splash in a small pond (usually we would've been able to have some fun in the shallow calmer bit of the rapids but the water levels were still too high). The water was perfect. Cool and very refreshing!

Back in the bus we headed to Barrons Gorge for lunch by the scenic Lake Placid and some magic tricks. Jules was baffled at each one. She always had this look of astonishment on her face:) Then we did some fun jumps in Lake Placid with our guide taking some great pics. Got to get those uploaded soon!

The rest of the day was spent driving from secluded beaches to quaint local towns; no more swimming though as there are crocs, jellies and sharks everywhere. It was a great trip. Made even better as it was just the two of us:) A quiet night tonight as we're off diving tomorrow!
