After sleeping in quite a bit, catching up on some much needed sleep:) we woke up to try and decide which boat we wanted to try and get on for the Whitsundays. But we hardly made any progress, probably due to both us getting excited about the rafting this afternoon. Managed to get some food inside us just in time as the bus arrived bang on 2 to whisk us away to the Barron Gorge National Park. The river is controlled by a hydro electric power plant and so the speed and height of the river is dependant on the how much electricity is required by Cairns.

After suiting up in sexy lifejackets and brain buckets (helmets) we walked down to the river for our 5 minute lesson in how to raft. The current was slightly strong than guide Chris had expected and so the lesson had to be put on hold as we encountered our first rapid. To be fair the Barron Gorge isn't the wildest white water rafting in the world but it was still great fun. Jules reckons she could now easily tackle the mighty Zambezi single handed no worries!

The highlight of the rafting though had to be the Japanese girls in some of the other boats. They didn't stop squealing and giggling all the way down. It started at the top before even getting into their raft. When they were introduced to their guide they all ooohed and aaahed and had to feel up his muscles. It was hilarious.

Didn't get up to too much after the rafting, just relaxed and enjoyed our free meal at the Woolshed.
