Stopover in Danang, just to visit the "Cham Museum", and eat in the nearby "Apsara" restaurant, at Tran Pu Street, with its delicious vietnamese specialities.Passing the Marble mountains on the way to Hoi An, my next stop.
Hoi An is on the map of basically all the travellers going from Saigon to Hanoi or vice versa. It has become an "El Dorado" of visitors to Vietnam, and indeed, it is a very charming and relaxed place to hang around for a few days.
It seems just to have the ideal mixture of interesting temples, renovated colonial buildings, comfortable hostels, nice massages, delicious home made pastries, lots of talented tailors, and nearby beaches, plus a wonderful location on the romantic Thu Bon river with lots of activities going on on the water.
The famous Cua Dai beach is a nice stretch of sand, but I was there on a Sunday afternoon, and the whole beach was filled up with local tourists, most of them seeking protection from the sun, as much as the fun with the water itself. The vietnamese tourists come here in full gear, with jeans, long sleeves and even steel helmits, straight from the motorbike..!
