Here we are, in our first offshore destination. We reached Isla San Cristobal in the Galapagos Islands after 4 days at sea, after screaming along with great winds and pulling off a maximum of 10.3 knotts, unheard of for a 50 ft yacht!

The island is very green, which is unusuall for the Galapagos, which are usually barren and moon like. We were planning on staying here for one night and then head on to the other islands, which we heard were more interesting, but like many things in Ecuador, our cruising permit wasn't here when we arrived so we've had to stay here for 5 days. Thats given us time to make a few repairs and we took an Island tour yesterday, saw a tortoise hatchery and conservation area with huge tortoises over 150 years old.

We then hit the beach and swa some huge iguanas and then swam off the beach with the native sea lions, who love swimming past you, spinning and playing in the surf.

From here we plan to head to Isla Santa Cruz, where our stowaway from the mainland - Lister's brother works and lives in the national park, so we should be able to get a great tour of the island and the Darwin research center.

Got to go now to have a beer and watch the sun go down over the island!

While you are swimming with sea-lions I am drowning with delinquents, life aint a beach! Your four days sail must have been fabulous, I SHOULD be there, and how marvellous to experience pre-history at first hand.Beats working anyday. Love mum
