The day has arrived!

Tomorrow afternoon the good ship Shambhala will be back in the water after 2 years standing 'on the hard'. We have managed to get the engine working properly with the alternators and compressor for the fridge working as well.

We've installed a water maker which uses reverse osmosis to turn sea water into pure water at about 70 litres per hour. We've also had the hull re-antifouled so we are all set. As soon as the boat is in the water we will head out for a sail around the bay for the rest of the day to test the tigging and systems.

We're then planning on anchoring in the bay for the night to run the watermaker and just make sure everything is tickety-boo. Unfortunately, we won't be able to go for a swim in the morning as the water in the bay is pretty rough, as you often get raw sewage whiffs on the afternoon breeze.

After we've checked everything over we are then just left to reprovision and get the boat ready for the 5 days to the Galapagos. So hopefully there may be time to do a bit of inland travel and see Ecuador and possibly Peru.

I hope you are all well and that those of you in the UK are enjoying the great winter you guys are having - i think it was -6 deg C a couple of days ago so I wont mention that it is about 24 deg C all day here!!!

Adios!

Alrighty mate
cheers for your concern regarding our weather......git! Glad the boat is coming together nicely and hope all goes off without a hitch. Personally i wouldn't bother with Peru as they make their bears wear rain macs and daft hats there. Look foward to your next post.

Hard work and marmalade sandwiches!
You guys have obviously been working your little butts off. Well done!!! Hope sea trials go to plan, don't put so much as a little toe in that water, who knows what you might catch. All souls this end well and happy, Jack has shifted up the promised gear (it's amazing what a little holiday blackmail can do) Agree with Bob about Peru, what self respecting bear would be seen dead with a marmalade sandwich? We all know it's honey they like. Love, mum.
