Arrived with the plane at Cebu airport, took a taxi to the southern bus terminal and from there with a local bus the 4 hours to Moalboal. Hoped onto a tricycle and rode to Casitas to see if they had a room left - which they did :)
After freshening up I went straight to see if I could find Jan-Jan - which I did - and gave her some presents from Australia (some macadamia nut chocolates and a little panda) I promised :)

Went diving in the morning at Pescador island and at the local site in Moalboal in the afternoon.
Then met up with Jan-Jan at 5:30pm who was all styled up and ready to go to the big Ring Hop celebration. The Ring Hop ceremony is held a few days before the final graduation where usually a member of the family put her a ring on her finger to symbolize the bond with the university. Jan-Jan suprised me when we met up to give her her ring which made me feel very honoured and proud!
Unfortunately it was pouring down buckets, but still it was a great celebration and a wonderful experience and being just a little more than nervous :)
Afterwards we had a late dinner at the Little Corner restaurant before calling it a night.

Stayed in bed most of the day because it was raining like hell again. In the evening met up with Jan-Jan at the Little Corner Restaurant where she works in the evenings after her work as secretary at the dive center. She bought me a lovely new shark-tooth necklace, because I broke mine yesterday while getting out of the wetsuit.

Took the motorbike out for a ride to the Kawasan waterfalls today. The water is unbelievable turquise and clear. Since it was raining (also on the way there) the falls where very impressive.
Met up with Jan-Jan at the Little Corner in the evening.

Jan-Jan has another free day today, so we went to town and then to White Beach and strolled around and met a friend of hers just as it started to rain again. She had her rehersal for the graduation ceremony in the afternoon, so I dropped her off and picked her up afterwards.

The big day - Graduation! Since the celebration is in the evening, we had the day to spend together.
We got a roasted chicken and drove to her guardian who cared for her in her first years of university. She has a dog there called Snoopy with broken hind legs but very cute. Jan-Jan used to take care of it.
We drove back home so she could get ready for her big day and later I dropped her of at the university.
After freshening up I took the tricycle to the university.
After the ceremony I gave her a flower-bouquet as a gradution present back at her seat, which is not usually done directly after receiving the graduation, but after the whole celebration is finished. In fact they do not give flowers as a present, but usually decorated bands, so it was something special :)
On the way back everybody congratulated Jan-Jan and she had organized pizza and wine for everybody back at the Little Corner.
When I got back to my room I realized that I had locked myself out while dumping the camera back at my room. The owner wasn't there anymore so Jan-Jan brought me a blanket and I slept on my veranda :)

Caught the owner of my resort just when he was picking up his car to let me into the room and luckily the key was lying on the bed.
Then I slept till about 11:30am got ready and picked up Jan-Jan at lunch-break and brought her robe back to the university, bought a roasted chicken and had it at Little Corner.
In the afternoon I went snorkeling and saw a turtle, seahorses, and huge needlefish.
Then after work Jan-Jan came over to meet me before starting at the Little Corner.

2011-03-29 - 2011-04-03:
Spend the days with the following routine:
After getting up, workout and shower I usually drove to town on the motorbike. Then picked up Jan-Jan at the dive center in her lunchbreak. In the afternoon went swimming/snorkeling for an hour seeing the usual inhabitants like turtles, pipefish, seahorses, lionfish, etc.
In the evenings we had a nice dinner either at the Little Corner or Last Filling Station.
On the 2nd of April I supprised her with a big bunch of roses at the dive center. The owner and boatsman was very helpful in making it a perfect suprise :)

Went to Cebu at 5:30am to go and get my visa extended. At the bus terminal I jumped into a taxi which turned out to be someone who had his first day as a taxidriver and didn't have a clue where to go. Luckily we asked a few policemen on the way how to get to the Bureau of Immigration. The whole process took about 20mins not like in Manila where it took about 1 1/2 hours.
At Cebu's E-Mall I got Jan-Jan a necklace with locket to put our two pictures in. I couldn't find any place who could print out the two tiny pictures though.

Went to Moalboal town today, got the two pictures for the locket printed out.
In the evening I proposed to Jan-Jan presenting her the locket and then we celebrated our offical engagement :)

Jan-Jan at the dive center in her lunchbreak. In the afternoon went swimming/snorkeling for an hour seeing the usual inhabitants like turtles, pipefish, seahorses, lionfish, etc.

Went to Cebu with Jan-Jan and Cathy. Both left 3 hours before me (at 4:30am) to go to the passport office (DFA) where Cathy knows some people so they got it sorted out pretty quick ;)
We met up in E-Mall where we bought the engagement rings (couldn't do that last week because I didn't have the size of her finger :).

Today we took the bus to Argao to meet up with Jan-Jans parents. We had to change in Carcar and then her brother picked us up with a motorbike. The parents live up on the hill overlooking the straights to Bohol. Only her brother and sister knew that we were coming, her mother didn't know anything and was very suprised and shy, since they haven't seen each other for over a year. After lunch I asked her mum for her hand in marriage which she approved of. It's the tradional way here to ask the parents. After visiting a few of Jan-Jans neighbours and old friends, we ended the afternoon with karaoke outside in the pavillion.

Had a look at a house to rent in Basdiot/Moalboal (at Panagsama beach). At lunchtime I suprised Jan-Jan who was a little more than speechless :)
Funnily enough the neighbour is the manager of the dive center where she works.
Sorted out a good price - for a bigger house we're paying less than the manager who's been living there for a year now :)
For half a year paying less than 750€ :)

Moving day. Moved all my stuff out of Claritas and after work all of Jan-Jans and spent the first night in our house. The mattress is really squeaky and looks very old. Will see if I can find a new one tomorrow.
In the evening we knocked next door at Jan-Jans colleage's house and made a joke of introducing us as the new neighbours :)

Got a new mattress and gas tank today. Later on there's a celebration at the dive center. The manager is celebrating his one-year anniversary at the dive center with a big barbeque and drinks. I wanted to go snokeling today and found myself looking at two people sleeping in my room at Claritas. Obviously the guy has rented out my room. I told him yesterday that we could make a deal and if I get half of my remaining days rent as refund he can rent it out again or I will use the room to go there after swimming to get a shower and change clothes. Since he could not give me a refund, I told him then I will keep the room. Unfortunately the guy is at the cockfight today, so I will check back later to get either my money back or throw the people out of the room :)

2011-04-17 - 2011-04-22:
Been buying a few things like cupboard, ricecooker, mixer, washing tub, bucket and mop and all the little things to set us up for a start. Also been doing a lot of research about working offshore, experiences of people living here and getting a lot of tips from expats who live here.

Finally got at least a written promissory note from the owner of the Claritas that he'll pay the refund (1800peso) to Jan-Jan by the 2nd May since he claims that he currently has no money - probably gambled it all away at the sabong (cockfight) ;)
Its the last day here in the Philippines today and a feeling of finallity and terrible heartache has started to overcome me/us for the last few days :(
Its hopefully only going to be 3 months until were back together and luckily modern technology will let us keep in touch und see each other on Skype so the time won't be that long.
Will get picked up by the taxi at 4:45am tomorrow morning and leave for Cebu to catch the flight at 9:45am. Then land in Manila at 11:00am and from Manila to Bangkok at 14:50pm.
