We left Bregenz and headed out on the Autobahn once more. We arrived in Zurich, but spent an hour getting lost in the city trying to find our hotel. The roads are crazy there because a) the street signs are so small and in some cases non existent, b) there are many one way roads, and c) there are road specifically for the trolley cars. We ended up on one of these trolley car roads and thank goodness no trolley was coming at the time. We eventually found our hotel and desperately needed to lie down after the navigation fiasco we all went through to get there.

We set out to explore the old town area. Our hotel was a nice through a park and beside a lake. The water was clear and blue and apparently potable. We walked past old churches, old buildings, and posh shopping areas. Out of hunger we stopped at an Argentinian restaurant. It turned out to be a good choice because we all had amazing steaks and an amazing bottle of wine. We took 3 hours to walk back to the hotel because my mom and I were having fun with our cameras and the effects the lights of the city had on them.

The next morning we played a riveting game of spades that ended with the boys winning by one point. We bid my parents farewell around 1pm. They were going to Fussen and Munich while we were staying in Zurich. Having settled into our hostel, I checked out the guide book that was left in the room. I gave a good look at the nightlife section to notice that all the gay bars Zurich had to offer were in 10ft of our hostel. We had managed to pick the only hostel in the gay district of Zurich. Braden was excited. By the time 5pm rolled around the street around the hostel transformed into a open party, where a marching ban played, people ate in open cafes, and the local bars set up shop outside their front doors and served drinks. We hung out around the area enjoying the friday night festivities and trying to figure out if this was a regular occurrence or we just happened to come on a special day. We enjoyed the atmosphere until 11:30 when we went to see the Zurich premier of Bourne Ultimatum. To our surprise there was an intermission a little over an hour into the movie. We had no idea what was going on, while every one else seemed to be unconcerned that the movie had suddenly stopped. Around 2am we walked back to the hostel to find the party still raging outside. We stayed up a bit longer, but succumbed to sleep very quickly.
