We made our way immediately onto a local bus and went up into the moutain where we saw the "Temple of Aphaea" - most complete temple in Greece, and it's a shrine to another fertility godess. It's all very mind blowing to me how this was all done 500 BC. After we made our way back from the mountain (which was a great, GREAT wait for the bus, we wandered the beaches and ate some pasta. Best meal so far. Starvation has to wait at least another 8 hours again to set in. HA! I'm not lovin' the food (TL), so my whole idea of needing Breakaway (fitness centre) after this is deminishing. I may need multiple trips to the Noodle House. :) We caught a ferry back at 4, and now we're finally back in Athens. Fewf! Must go veg now. Tomorrow? Myconos. :)
Wooowhoo... we got out of Athens. Not that we were counting it down, but we didn't know just how bad the smell/smoke was until we left and landed in the nice beauty air of Aegina. Tina and I basically just sat on the side of the road and inhaled many deep deep breaths. Way more then we are now sittin' in this internet cafe where peps are allowed to smoke... grrrr. So, we got up this morning at 7 am, and washed up then ate our great good freebie breakfast. Immediately we trucked ourselves down to the metro and met our destination of Piraeus (Port) where our ferry left at 9 for Aegina. The "pistachio" island, where we found out it's much like everything else we've experienced here... expensive. Well... that's a bit of an exaggeration I guess. The food isn't that bad, but most other things have been. Clothes, booze, yeah... not cheap. Given the Euro cost us about 1.60, and a beer cost min. 5 euro, that's not cheap. Not compared to Mexico that's for sure. BUT, we're not here for the booze anyway, and the sites have certainly been amazing, and today was the same. Aegina was very nice.
