January 2, 2009 (Yellowknife - Edmonton)
Today is our great good start to our first INTERNATIONAL vacation with the little ladies! We won't make this entry a big one as ya know, we're leaving Yellowknife and then overnight in Edmonton; not too much to say! Here's our FIRST kicker! Original flight was set to get us out of here (YK) at 3:25 PM nd arrive in Edmonton at 5:15 PM! That WOULD have been great! But, due to the fact that Yellowknife is a frickin' gigantic ice box (-44 C today), our flight was cancelled, but good ol' Air Canada was nice enough to automatically get us on First Air who's airplanes have the "arctic" package and can fly in cold parts of the world. So, our new time out is 5: 15 PM! Not bad. We'll still get into Edmonton not too long after the girls bedtime. We're hoping to keep them on our time zone as we're well aware that the travel alone will kick 'em out of sorts! But... now flights can't land in YK cause of the ice fog, so now we're delayed again! 3 hours! What did we do? Opted to just hang out at the airport since we already went in through security and all that stuff, which the staff already knew it was going to be late, but didn't share that until all were through security. Perhaps they were all bored there and wanted the entertainment?! Not too sure! Either way... we DID get on the flight out of YK at 8:55, and landed in Edmonton around 10:45 PM or so! Shuttles were absolutely stupid and far too many people waiting, so we cabbed it to our hotel and finally got all settled at 12:30 AM! Girls did not sleep much really! Not a great start for sure! We are sleeping, then heading out to the airport again at 5:15 AM! Sleep must happen! Nite!
