Santorini, named for the famous Saint Irini in Greece, greeted us with open arms of sunshine and cool breezes amidst rough seas.  Tendering caused the little boat to rise and fall with the giant swells and though I didn't take any medicine for seasickness I closed my eyes, rested my head back against my very plush seat and enjoyed pretending I was lounging on a hammock in the sun.  It was a beautiful time
and soon we arrived at the pier.  My roommate and I decided against taking the donkeys this trip as crew get a 3 Euro discount, bringing the cost of the tram down to only 1 Euro, if we ride the tram but there is no discount for donkeys.  Also, the donkey ride takes 3 times as long and our time was limited in town.  We wandered around taking photos of the beautiful cliffside views and walked the length of the cliff up and back.  Then we headed to find some food and found a reasonable gyro stand.  True Greek gyros have french fries on top of them and are delicious - though I was shocked to discover that it is very difficult to find gyros with lamb meat, mostly you'll find chicken and pork.  After a bit I headed down the tram on my own to get ready for work and my roommate stayed behind to do a bit more shopping.  It was a beautiful day in Santorini.
