I slept really good last night and am a little tired today but not too bad. I had a safety meeting and other fun related meetings at 10:30 AM so I got up at 9 and had breakfast and turned in my medical forms. The meeting was quick and I didn't have to stay for certifications because I'd already completed them, thankfully.
We were in Venice all day today still but I didn't feel at all bad about not being able to get off the ship. Today is freeezing cold, rainy, windy, very dark and ominously cloudy. I feel like I'm in Juneau Alaska, just like I've been for the previous two summers. Those were the days where I'd look out the window and not feel guilty for not getting off the ship but rather going below decks to my cabin and taking a nap.
Thankfully the rain has now stopped, just before departing for Dubrovnik, Croatia
I still have to convince myself that I am in Europe - it doesn't seem true, yet here I am.
Feel free to write comments or email me, I love coming to my computer during down time and getting "mail".

City of canals
. I had some free time right at departure so I headed out to the Promenade Deck to walk some laps. Thankfully I'd been smart enough to pack the point and shoot to snap off a few pics of Venice on our slow troll through the city. It was so interesting to see the old city along the waterway and see that there are genuinely no roads in this area, just water vessels to get from one area to the next - but each side of the main thoroughfare lining the water has bridges going over the canals so that you can walk along one whole side but need a water taxi to get across to the other side. Really gorgeous.I still have to convince myself that I am in Europe - it doesn't seem true, yet here I am.
